Question:
Can I add different wood chips other than oak? What about maple chips? Or other different wood chips? Thank you. Best Regards Dysan C. Tsai
Response:
Watch out! Some woods are toxic. I suspect other woods have been tried over the many generations of wine making. I also suspect there is a reason everyone is sticking with oak. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Can I add different wood chips other than oak? What about maple chips? Response:
The Greeks use pine to store wine. The wine is called Retsina and you can buy it in any good wine shop (it’s not expensive). The result is something that tastes like dilluted turpentine, but is surprisingly good. It is however an acquired taste. Were I you, I’d keep my experimental batches small. dd91352
